PBHL 8001 Proposal Writing Seminar 3.0 Credits
This course is designed to assist doctoral students in the preparation of a research proposal. Students will identify research questions, develop specific aims, critically analyze the literature, and select appropriate research methods, including data collection and analysis. The final product of this class will be a complete and polished draft of the scientific sections of a proposal. The proposal may serve as the basis for a dissertation proposal, a grant application, or both, and will closely follow the model used by the National Institutes of Health. Through ongoing peer review, students will critically evaluate the adequacy and scientific merit of research protocols. Students will also receive written feedback from the instructor, peers, and their faculty mentor throughout the course.
