PHIL 3013 Philosophy of Language 3.0 Credits
This course examines the nature of meaning, reference, and communication. It will explore how language conveys meaning, represents the world, and how context shapes what we say and understand. Topics include theories of meaning, speech acts, interpretation, and the relationship between language, thought, and reality. Students will discuss the work of key figures such as Frege, Russell, Tarski, Wittgenstein and more recent philosophers, with an emphasis on critical and collaborative engagement with key texts.
