PHYS 1701 Introduction to Experimental Physics 3.0 Credits
Introduction to aspects of experimental physics, including experimental techniques, laboratory techniques, data analysis, scientific writing, literature search, and presentations. Students will perform physics experiments related to seminal 20th century discoveries after an introduction to their key hypotheses. Experiments include the photoelectric effect, the Michelson interferometer, radioactive decay, and optical spectroscopy, among others. Students will write detailed laboratory reports and present results.
