PHYS 3711 Computational Physics 3.0 Credits
Intermediate treatment of computation in the modeling of physical systems. Presents scientific programming techniques and problem-solving strategies applied to problems in electromagnetic theory and quantum mechanics. Covers solutions of partial differential equations in physics, Monte-Carlo methods, matrix methods; solutions of Laplace's, Poisson’s, and Maxwell's equations; fields due to moving charges; Fast Fourier Transforms; and solutions of the Schroedinger equation. Algorithms and solutions are presented in the computing language of instruction.
Repeat Status: Not repeatable for credit
