PROD 3005 Materials and Processes 3.0 Credits
This course explores the relationship between product design and manufacturing, focusing on how production processes, materials, and technologies shape design outcomes. Students will examine how manufacturing constraints and opportunities influence form, function, and user experience, learning how ideas move from concept to production. Through case studies, industry analysis, site visits, and hands-on projects, students engage with design for manufacturability, material sourcing, cost efficiency, and sustainable production. Collaboration across design and engineering disciplines is emphasized. By the end of the course, students will integrate manufacturing strategies into their design process to create innovative, feasible, and efficient products.
Repeat Status: Not repeatable for credit
