PROD 355 Design Ethics + Climate Futures 3.0 Credits
In this interdisciplinary course, we explore the past and present impacts of the Design industry on our current climate crisis, and we delve into the transformative potential of Speculative Design, Design Ethics, and Social Entrepreneurship to imagine possible, plausible, probable, and preferable climate futures aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the pursuit of the common good. Through immersive experiences, discussions and speculative world-building, students contemplate the virtues of designing and producing consumer goods for a more inclusive and just society. By understanding the ethical implications of design decisions, individuals gain the tools to drive positive change through social entrepreneurship, thereby fostering a more responsible world.
