PROD 4005 Product Design Professional Practice 3.0 Credits
This course is a survey of professions related to industrial design in a variety of professional settings including freelance, consulting, non-for-profit, and corporate design. Students will explore ethical standards of practice and investigate, discuss, and critique the evolving professional landscape. Students will reflect on the impact of design, their own values, and future contributions to the field and the society and the planet. Through guest presentations, site-visits, and self-directed research, students will understand potential career paths and form professional relationships with established designers. This course will center around developing professional identity, including preparation of a professional portfolio, resume, and web presence.
