PTRS 8560 Clinical Reasoning 3.0 Credits
This course initiates development of clinical reasoning in preparation for professional physical therapy practice. Emphasis is placed on understanding the physical therapist’s professional identity and movement system expertise, while exploring the ICF model and the continuum of care. Students apply patient-client management concepts, including examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and intervention as outlined in the Guide to Physical Therapist Practice. Through problem-based learning in a small group discussion format, students apply clinical reasoning to cases while developing communication skills and understanding the interprofessional team approach. The course also fosters professionalism, self-directed learning, and effective group participation as key components of professional development.
