PTRS 8620 Musculoskeletal Management I 5.0 Credits
This course is the first in a two-course lecture and laboratory sequence in orthopaedic physical therapy across the lifespan. Emphasizing upper extremity and cervicothoracic spine conditions, the course examines developmental and age-related variations that influence differential diagnosis, clinical decision making, and evidence-informed management. Students integrate advanced anatomy, biomechanics, and pathokinesiology to design and implement conservative and post-operative plans of care. Laboratory experiences emphasize psychomotor skill development in examination and manual treatment techniques. Emphasis is placed on the skilled use of examination procedures to inform differential diagnosis and the progression of clinical interventions to optimize functional outcomes.
