PTRS 8660 Evidence-Based Practice I 2.0 Credits

This course develops skills in generating clinical questions and locating, analyzing, communicating, and applying research to physical therapy practice. Students are introduced to research theory, hypothesis development, measurement theory, experimental design, sampling, and statistical inference. Using patient cases, students formulate clinical questions, search the literature, and identify the best available evidence. Students critically appraise studies for validity and applicability and apply findings to diagnostic accuracy, outcome measurement, and prognosis. Emphasis is placed on interpreting common clinical and research tests and measurements to support evidence-based clinical decision-making.
