PTRS 9000 Motor Learning and Control 3.0 Credits
This course explores the principles of motor learning and control as they apply to physical therapy practice. Students will examine neural and biomechanical mechanisms underlying movement, stages of skill acquisition, and factors influencing motor performance and recovery. Emphasis is placed on applying evidence-based strategies to optimize motor function in individuals with typical and atypical movement patterns. Through lectures, labs, and case-based discussions, learners will develop clinical reasoning skills to design and implement interventions plans for each stage of motor adaptation and rehabilitation.
Repeat Status: Not repeatable for credit
Restrictions: Can enroll if major is PT.
