PTRS 9272 Pelvic Health Physical Therapy: A Woman's Health Perspective 2.0 Credits
This elective course examines pelvic floor anatomy and physiology, emphasizing the impact of pathophysiological conditions on pelvic health in cisgender females across the lifespan. Students apply advanced knowledge to physical therapy examination, evaluation, and intervention strategies. Musculoskeletal contributions to urinary incontinence and urogynecologic pain are explored in relation to pelvic floor dysfunction and overall pelvic health. Hands-on laboratory sessions reinforce lecture content and provide practice with assessment techniques. PT examination, clinical decision-making, intervention planning, and identification of red and yellow flags for pelvic floor dysfunction, including trauma history and chronic pain are addressed.
