SCRP 3330 Art of Dramaturgy 3.0 Credits
This course introduces students to the role of a dramaturg; a person who makes a deep study of a theatrical text. In productions of classic plays, the dramaturg may research historical context and work with the artistic team on developing the best way to present it to a modern audience. In a production of a new play, the dramaturg may work with the playwright to develop new drafts of the play. Students will read many classic and contemporary plays, including not-yet published ones, and discuss them in class each week through a dramaturgical lens.
