SE 5110 Software Requirements and Design 3.0 Credits

This course advances students from developers to software designers who can elicit stakeholder needs, extract key functionalities and quality attributes, and translate them into high-quality software products. Students learn to make sound design and architectural decisions, evaluate design quality, and manage software evolution. The course covers fundamental design principles, abstraction, hierarchical structures, and pattern-oriented design, and teaches how AI tools support requirement discovery and model/code generation using open-source projects for real-world context.
