TAX 7630 Tax Experiential Learning 3.0 Credits
In this experiential service-learning course, students will gain hands-on tax preparation experience by participating in the IRS-supported Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. After completing IRS certification training, students prepare individual income tax returns for community members in need of free tax assistance. The course emphasizes both technical tax skills and the importance of ethical responsibility, communication, and community engagement. Through this work, students not only apply classroom knowledge in a real-world setting but also make a meaningful impact in the Philadelphia community.
