TVMM 5100 Media Law and Ethics for Television Leaders 3.0 Credits

This course introduces students to the legal, regulatory, and ethical issues that shape decision making in today’s television and media industries. Students learn about contracts, releases, negotiations, standards, and unions, and examine how both in-house and external legal counsel guide media organizations. The course also explores real-world ethical challenges through case studies and current events, helping students understand how financial, regulatory, and professional pressures influence responsible leadership. Throughout the semester, students consider the obligations media managers have to audiences, employees, and society.
