This course examines the economics of the media industry with a primary focus on television while also addressing the broader landscape of film, streaming, and other media. Students learn how media business models are developed and how financial decisions are made across different sectors. The course covers key financial concepts, including motion picture profitability, primary and secondary revenue streams for television properties, key performance metrics, and the fundamentals of reading and interpreting basic financial statements. Students evaluate how economic forces shape the past, present, and future of television and other media platforms.
