EDEX 5000 Inclusive Teaching in Practice: Assessment and Instruction 3.0 Credits
This course prepares teacher candidates to support diverse learners in inclusive classrooms through a tiered system. Emphasis is placed on understanding learner variability, including how characteristics associated with disabilities and advanced learning needs influence access to instruction, as well as legal responsibilities for referral, evaluation, and assessment. Candidates learn to collect, interpret, and apply classroom data to guide instruction, monitor progress, and determine when referral is warranted. The course addresses implementing accommodations and modifications for all learners and in alignment with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), engaging in multidisciplinary team processes, and sustaining equitable practices that reduce bias and expand access for all learners.
