NURS 341 Using Genetics and Genomics to Inform Nursing Care Delivery 4.5 Credits
The course focuses on pharmacogenetics with integration of related nursing practice concerns including ethical, legal, and social issues. This course focuses on specific diseases, including cancers, cardiovascular diseases, prenatal diseases, and psychiatric illnesses. Students learn to conduct individual and family genetic risk assessments, construct human pedigrees, and identify red flags that necessitate comprehensive evaluation. Students investigate current issues in genetics, genomics, and pharmacogenomics and healthcare as well as genetic and genomic influences across the healthcare continuum.
